Home Educators Day

The Scottish Parliament is hosting a Home Educators Day, offering a range of engaging learning sessions for home‑educated young people and their parents or guardians.

Three sessions are available, each tailored to different age groups and learning levels.

• Morning sessions include an education workshop, a tour of the Parliament, and an MSP Q&A. This session is ideal for primary and lower‑secondary learners.
• In the afternoon, a more advanced session offers a short visit to the Debating Chamber floor, an education session, an MSP Q&A, and the option to watch Chamber business. This session is recommended for secondary learners, particularly those studying National 5 or Higher Modern Studies.

There are three sessions across the day:

• 10.00-11.30 and 11.30-12.30 sessions include an education session, a tour and an MSP Q&A. These are particularly suitable for primary and lower secondary levels.
• The session from 1.00-2.45pm will include a short visit to the Debating Chamber floor, and education session and MSP Q&A, plus the option to watch business in the chamber from 2.15-2.45. This session is not recommended for primary school pupils, due to the possible unsuitable content of debates and questions in the chamber. We would recommend this for secondary level, especially National 5 and Higher Modern Studies.
